Málstofa Stofnunar Árna Magnússonar
Stofnun Árna Magnússonar í íslenskum fræðum stendur fyrir málstofu föstudaginn 5. nóvember kl. 15.30. Alaric Hall flytur erindi sem nefnist ,,Why have I spent the whole summer making stemmas? The post-medieval travels of four riddarasögur." Málstofan verður haldin að Neshaga 16, 3. hæð og eru allir velkomnir.
Eins og titillinn ber með sér verður erindið fluttur á ensku og lýsir höfundur innihaldi þess svo:
Stemmas have been getting a bad press over the last twenty years or so.This is probably partly because it gives people a welcome excuse not Til baka
to make them any more; but it is also because they are associated with trying to reconstruct lost, original ur-texts. However, understanding
the complete stemma of a saga also allows us to understand better how individual scribes altered their exemplars, and to study the channels
through which the saga travelled from one copying to another, down the centuries of Icelandic manuscript production. Establishing the stemmas of several sagas which co-occur in manuscripts allows us to develop a more sophisticated picture again. This paper presents the methodologies and some exploratory results from Alaric's work on the stemmas of Sigurgarðs saga frækna, Jarlmanns saga og Hermanns, Nikulás saga leikara and Konráðs saga keisarasonar, studying how these were transmitted in post-medieval Iceland."
