The story takes place in Reykjavík in 1963. A young poetess moves from the country side (Dalir in West Iceland) to the city, with her manuscripts. This is a time when men were born poets, but young women were invited to take part in beauty pageants.
This is a story of creative longing and the search for beauty. Auður Ava was awarded the Icelandic Literary Award and the Nordic Council Literature Prize for her last novel, Hotel Silence.
