Auður Haralds

Bio

Auður Haralds was born in Reykjavík December 11, 1947 and lived there most of her life, apart from eight years in Italy. She studied ballet dancing in her youth as well as drama studies and voice presentation.

Auður's first novel, Hvunndagshetjan, caused quite a stir when published in 1979. After that she wrote novels, children's books, plays and a juvenile, as well as a handful of poetry.

In addition to writing, Auður worked as a journalist, translator, program director for the radio, in addition to writing popular essays and columns. 

Auður died on January 2, 2024.
